OK this band cannot be described as new or fresh any more but the time I did catch them live a few years back and they were very much worth the trip I made to see them.

This Parisian band consist of three core members plus a number of guest musicians when they play live. Their music style is tango but with elements of electronic and sampled material that gives it a more contemporary edge and as you would expect with Parisian bands from the late nineties, their music is stylish and polished.

Their second album, “La Revancha del Tango”, was released in 2001 and brought them very much into the spotlight of popular music. When I saw them live the music moved from works of cinematic beauty to dope beats and dub. Towards the end of the show when they were scratching in samples of “Sound of Da Police” by KRS One the show took on a club like atmosphere. Their latest album, ‘Lunático’, from 2006 is more traditional and was recorded with a 15 piece tango orchestra in Buenos Aires so it will be interesting to see where they will go with this live set.

They are playing in Amsterdam as part of their “Exclusive” tour. Well at 28 euro a ticket on a Sunday night it may certainly well be.
